The reset visit

The visit that resets a house to zero

Deep cleaning is not a longer standard clean. It is a different job with a different list: the build-up that accumulates under, behind, above and inside the things a weekly visit works around.

Overview

Deep Cleaning in Troy and the Capital Region

Every home has a layer that regular upkeep never reaches. Grease that has hardened on the side of the range. Grey film in the grout lines that reads as "just the colour of the tile" until one square inch is scrubbed and the comparison becomes impossible to unsee. Dust bonded to the top of a door frame. Soap scum turning shower glass permanently cloudy. None of it is neglect. It is simply the part of the house that a scheduled hour does not have room for.

A deep clean exists to remove that layer in one pass. We move what can safely be moved, work surfaces that are normally invisible, and treat build-up with dwell time instead of pressure — meaning the product sits long enough to break the bond, so we lift the residue off rather than grinding it into the finish.

It takes noticeably longer than a standard visit. A three-bedroom home is typically a four to six hour job for a two-person team, and we would rather quote that honestly than promise a deep clean in two hours and hand back something that is really just a tidy.

In the kitchen, that means degreasing the range hood and filter, cleaning behind and beside the range and refrigerator where they can be pulled out, wiping the interior of cabinets you empty for us, descaling the sink and faucet, and cleaning the inside of the microwave and oven when those are included.

In bathrooms, it means scrubbing grout line by line, treating hard-water deposits on glass and fixtures, cleaning the exhaust fan cover, going behind and under the toilet base, and washing the tile wall to full height rather than to arm height.

Everywhere else, it means baseboards done by hand, door frames and tops of doors, window sills and interior glass, vents and returns, light fixtures and ceiling fan blades, switch plates, radiators, and floors cleaned along the perimeter where the vacuum normally passes by at speed.

Why it works

Six things this service gets right

Dwell time instead of force

Build-up is dissolved and lifted, not scoured off. Finishes survive the process, which matters most on the surfaces that took the longest to ruin.

Behind and underneath

Appliances and furniture that can be moved safely get moved. What we cannot move without risking a floor or a wall, we tell you about instead of quietly skipping.

Grout treated line by line

Tile floors and shower walls are worked in sections with a brush, not mopped over. It is slow, and it is the only method that actually changes the colour back.

High surfaces included

Fan blades, light fixtures, vents, tops of cabinets, door frames — the horizontal surfaces above eye level where a season of dust has been collecting.

A clear scope up front

You get a written list of what the deep clean includes for your home before it starts, so nobody is guessing about what "deep" meant.

A better baseline for what follows

Once the backlog is gone, recurring visits hold the line easily. Most clients find their ongoing plan gets faster after a deep clean, not slower.

Process

Five steps, every time

Walk the house first

We look at the actual condition before quoting. Deep cleaning cannot be priced from square footage alone, and anyone who tries is guessing.

Agree the scope in writing

Inside the oven? Inside the fridge? Cabinet interiors? You decide what is in, and it is listed before we start.

Set up and apply

Products go on the surfaces that need dwell time first — grout, glass, range — while the team works elsewhere and lets chemistry do the slow part.

Work top to bottom

High surfaces, then mid-level, then floors last, room by room, so nothing finished gets re-contaminated.

Inspect together

We walk the house with you at the end. On a deep clean, the difference is usually obvious; where it is not, we want to hear it while we are still there.

Worth knowing

When a deep clean is the right call

Four situations account for most of the deep cleans we do: moving into a home somebody else lived in, moving out of one and wanting the deposit back, the end of a long winter when the windows have been closed since November, and the first visit before starting a recurring plan.

There is also the honest fifth case — the house simply got away from you for a while. That happens to everyone eventually, usually attached to a new baby, a new job, an illness or a hard year. No one on our team has ever commented on the state of a house, and no one ever will.

If you are unsure whether you need a deep clean or a standard one, the test is simple: look at the grout in your shower and the top of your kitchen cabinets. If either surprises you, book the deep clean.

Deep Cleaning FAQ

Questions about deep cleaning

Regular cleaning maintains a level. Deep cleaning changes the level. A standard visit cleans the surfaces you use; a deep clean reaches the ones you do not — inside, behind, above and underneath — and removes accumulated build-up rather than the current week's mess.

For a three-bedroom home, four to six hours with a two-person team is typical. Larger homes, heavy grout staining or years of range grease push that higher. We give you the estimate after seeing the home, and if the scope changes mid-visit we call you before continuing.

Once or twice a year suits most households. Homes with pets, smokers, wood heat, or heavy cooking benefit from three. If you are on a weekly plan with us, the backlog never builds and once a year is usually plenty.

We move what is safe to move on the floor it sits on — nightstands, chairs, lighter furniture, and appliances on rollers where the flooring allows. We do not drag heavy items across hardwood or vinyl, and we do not disconnect gas lines or water lines.

Only if you ask for it. Both are separate line items because each adds real time. Say yes when you book and it is scheduled properly; ask on the day and we may not have the window for it.

We use the least aggressive product that will do the job, and stronger ones only where nothing else works — mineral deposits and set grease, mostly. Tell us if anyone in the house is sensitive to fragrance, or if there are pets or infants, and we adjust the kit before we arrive.

It can restore grout dramatically, and in most bathrooms the result surprises people. What it cannot do is repair grout that is cracked, missing or has absorbed stains all the way through — that needs regrouting or sealing, and we will tell you when you have crossed from a cleaning problem into a repair one.
