Overview

House Cleaning in Troy and the Capital Region

Most cleaning companies sell time. You buy three hours, someone shows up, and whatever gets finished in three hours is what you get. That model is easy to price and terrible to live with, because the parts of a house that need attention are never evenly distributed. A family of five with two dogs does not need the guest room touched every week, but they absolutely need the kitchen floor handled properly, and no stopwatch understands that difference.

We work from a room-by-room plan instead. On the first visit we walk the house with you, note what matters and what does not, and write it down. That plan becomes the checklist the team follows every time they come, and it belongs to your house — not to a generic template we hand to every client in Troy.

The order matters as much as the list. We clean top to bottom and dry to wet, so dust knocked off a ceiling fan lands on a floor that has not been vacuumed yet, and the mop is the last thing to touch a room instead of the first. It sounds obvious. It is also the single most common reason a house looks clean at 2 p.m. and dusty again at 6 p.m.

Each room gets the same discipline. Hard surfaces are wiped, not sprayed and smeared. Glass and mirrors are finished with a dry pass so they do not streak as they dry. Baseboards, switch plates, door handles and the tops of door frames are on the list because they are the surfaces guests notice and residents stop seeing. Floors are vacuumed with attachments along the edges rather than run down the middle, then mopped with clean water — changed between the bathroom and the kitchen, always.

You do not need to tidy before we arrive, though anything you put away is time we spend cleaning instead of sorting. If a room should be skipped, say so and it is skipped, with no argument and no charge for it. And if you want something done differently, tell us once. It goes into the plan and stays there.

House cleaning in an older Troy building is not the same job as house cleaning in a newer Clifton Park build, and our teams do not pretend otherwise. Original hardwood, plaster walls, radiators and painted trim all want a lighter hand and a different product than sealed laminate and drywall. Knowing which one you have is part of showing up prepared.

Why it works

Six things this service gets right

A plan written for your house

The first visit produces a room-by-room checklist specific to your layout, surfaces and priorities. Every visit after that follows it, so nothing depends on who is on shift.

The same faces

You get a consistent team rather than whoever is free that morning. They learn the quirks — the door that sticks, the cabinet that needs a soft cloth — and you stop repeating yourself.

Top-to-bottom order

Dust falls. Cleaning in the right sequence means it lands on surfaces we have not finished yet, instead of on the floor we just mopped.

Surfaces matched to products

Granite, quartz, sealed hardwood, luxury vinyl, ceramic tile and natural stone each get what they can take. Nothing aggressive goes on a finish that will not forgive it.

Detail work included, not upsold

Baseboards, light switches, door frames, window sills and cabinet fronts are part of the standard visit, not a line item we add later.

Straight answers about time

We tell you honestly how long your home takes and what fits in that window. If the first visit needs to be longer, we say so before we start, not after.

Process

Five steps, every time

You call or send the form

Tell us the size of the home, how many bathrooms, whether there are pets and what bothers you most. Two minutes on the phone is usually enough.

We quote a real number

You get a price and a realistic time window, not a range that doubles when the crew arrives.

First visit and walk-through

We go room by room with you, agree on priorities and write the plan while we are standing in the house.

The clean itself

The team works the checklist in order. If something takes longer than expected, we tell you before we run over.

Walk-through and adjust

We check the work together on the way out. Anything you flag goes into the plan for next time.

Worth knowing

Why hiring this out is usually the cheaper decision

A thorough clean of a three-bedroom home takes a practiced two-person team about two and a half hours. Done alone, on a Saturday, without professional equipment, the same work runs four to six hours — and it is the six-hour version that never quite gets to the baseboards.

There is also the cost of doing it badly. Bathroom grout that is never scrubbed properly stains permanently. Hardwood mopped with too much water swells at the seams. A range hood filter that goes a year without degreasing stops pulling air. None of that is dramatic on any single weekend, and all of it is expensive eventually.

The honest version: if you enjoy cleaning your own house and have the time, keep doing it. Most of our clients called because the hours stopped existing, not because they could not run a vacuum.

House Cleaning FAQ

Questions about house cleaning

A two-bedroom apartment usually runs about two hours with a two-person team. A three-bedroom home with two bathrooms is closer to two and a half to three. The first visit is often longer because it includes the walk-through and any catch-up work, and we tell you that before booking rather than surprising you with it.

No. Plenty of clients give us a key, a code or a lockbox and come home to a finished house. Others prefer to be there for the first few visits and then hand over access once they know the team. Either is fine, and we never let ourselves in outside the agreed window.

Nothing is required. If you want the most cleaning per hour, clear counters and floors of things that need decisions — mail, toys, laundry — because sorting your belongings is slower than cleaning around them and we would rather spend the time on surfaces.

Yes, everything comes with us. If you prefer we use a specific product you keep at home — a particular hardwood cleaner, or something unscented — leave it out and note it in the plan and we will use it instead.

Yes, as an add-on. Both are genuinely time-consuming jobs rather than quick extras, so they are quoted separately and scheduled with enough time to do them properly instead of squeezed into a standard visit.

Call or text within 24 hours and we come back and fix it. That is the whole policy. It is rare, and when it happens it is almost always a communication gap that ends up written into the plan so it does not repeat.

Regularly — a large share of the housing stock in Troy, Cohoes and Watervliet is exactly that. Older finishes get minimal moisture, softer cloths and gentler products. If a floor has areas where the finish is already worn through, we will point it out rather than keep working water over it.
